Support & FAQ

Everything you need to know about monitoring your environment with PathoTrace.

General

1.What exactly is PathoTrace?

PathoTrace is an environmental monitoring system that combines chemical-sensitive 'PathoStrips' with advanced computer vision to detect microbial activity in your home or workplace before it becomes visible to the naked eye.

2.Is this a medical diagnostic tool?

No. PathoTrace is an environmental assessment tool. It detects microbial growth markers on surfaces and in the air. It should not be used to diagnose or treat medical conditions. If you have health concerns, consult a medical professional.

Usage

1.How do I use the PathoStrips?

Peel the protective layer and place the strip in an area of concern (e.g., near vents, under sinks). Leave it for 24 hours to collect samples, then scan the strip using the PathoTrace app to get your Risk Score.

2.How long and where can I store unused strips?

Unused strips should be kept in their original air-sealed pouch in a cool, dry place. They typically have a shelf life of 12 months when stored properly.

3.Do I need special lighting for the scan?

Our computer vision pipeline is designed to normalize for most indoor lighting conditions. However, for best results, avoid direct sunlight or heavy shadows when taking the photo.

Technology

1.How does the 'Risk Score' work?

The app analyzes color shifts on the strip caused by metabolic redox reactions. A higher ratio of pink-to-blue indicates higher microbial activity, which is quantified into a 0-100 Risk Score.

2.Does it detect specific bacteria like E. coli?

The current version provides a broad-spectrum microbial activity index. While it indicates the presence of living organisms, it does not currently identify specific bacterial or viral strains.
