How PathoTrace works
Place a card, wait a day, and read the result. Here is what happens in between.
Place it
Put a card on the surface you want to test. Leave it there for 24 hours.
Read the color
Match the window against the scale printed on the card. Blue means the surface is clean. The further it shifts toward magenta, the more growth is present.
Scan it, if you want a number
Reading the card by eye is enough. For a scored result you can save and compare over time, photograph it with our online scanner — it corrects for lighting and angle.
The science
How the color works
Each card holds a dye called resazurin. When living microbes are present, they react with the dye and change its color. The more growth there is, the more the color shifts.
No power needed
The card works on its own. There are no batteries, no sensors, and nothing to plug in. You place it, wait, and read it.
